We all know that speech sounds better with a British accent but the real question is do outfits sound better with a British accent? Let’s judge this by reviewing the recent BAFTA Brittania Awards.
Cate Blanchett and Joan Collins support our theory that outfits looks better ummmm…British. Normally I’d deduct points for Joan’s flesh colored hose but she gets a pass because her shoes are sexy and evocative of Dynasty, she is wearing an Alexis Bittar necklace, and, well, just BRITISH. Cate is forever and always perfection and I forgive her dress being a few inches too long for reasons stated above. Standing O for both glorious gals!
Viola Davis is stunning in Bibhu Mohapatra. A tip of our hat to her for leaning on the winter-white trend which is ubiquitous right now. And also thank you, Viola, for not wearing a hat because that hair is a halo of beauty. Question: how does she get her skin to glow like that? My suspicion is that she is not fully human and somehow aliens are lighting her from within. She is American and not wearing a British designer but she is IN in Britain so aliens or not, she is afforded extra points. Standing O!
Isabella Blake-Thomas is a mere sixteen years old and she looks absolutely enchanting in this multi colored floral gown for which I cannot locate a design credit. My only request would be a stronger lip and perhaps some lashes so that her eyes get the credit that they duly deserve. Also - she’s British so Standing O!
Don’t get me wrong, dear readers, I’m in no way promoting this dress worn by Lady Victoria Hervey. However, she IS the woman who typically shows up mostly naked and forces me to make jokes like: Victoria seemingly has very few secrets. From that perspective, let’s agree this is an upgrade and call it a So-So since undergarments nor nether regions are actively being revealed. If BRITISH can save LVH then our theory has been tested and proven.
